The College of Ministries offers a Bachelor of Science in Religious Education with a major in Biblical Literature. Operating on the premises that all Christians are called and gifted by God to minister and that Apostolic ministry is “for God, to people, in love,” the Religious Education Department of the College of Ministries explores the discipline of religion from an Apostolic perspective with emphases on the values of relationship with God and others. Building on a solid foundation of General Education Courses the Religious Education Curriculum requires the successful completion of ninety additional quarter hours to earn a Bachelor of Science in Religious Education. While following the prescribed course of study, students will be encouraged to pursue their personal spiritual formation by exploring and developing their relationship with God during comprehensive study of the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures. The Old and New Testaments will be examined using both biblical and systematic approaches to theology with attention given to Apostolic distinctives and their effective communication. |

Since quality relationships enhance effective communication, intentionality is given in both the formal and informal curriculum to develop the students’ ability to relate to and lead others in love, both intra and cross-culturally. Therefore students are not only required to complete two General Education minors along with their Biblical Literature major but are encouraged to be involved in extracurricular activities and ministry opportunities.
Approaching Religious Education emphasizing the values of relationship to God and others enhances Religious Education Graduates’ ability to be “Empowered Christian Leaders.” Besides being equipped for effective ministry their two minors provide them with a broad educational foundation should they need to find secular employment or choose to pursue graduate studies.

FROM A STUDENT'S PERSPECTIVE
“I think this college is one of the most amazing feats the Apostolic World has taken on. The idea of an Apostolic Liberal Arts University with future accreditation is an incredible thing! “My” biggest goal while being at GLU is to grow closer spiritually to God than I have ever been and help every one of the other students accomplish the same thing through being a servant to the college and its people. I’ve never been closer in my walk with God than I have been since I’ve come to GLU; my prayer life, my time spent with God, and my choice in relationships have changed drastically for the better since attending Great Lakes University. I’ve seen definite improvement in my life and the people here have played a great role in helping me achieve this.”
